Whiteboard Revision, by Polar Industries. Last updated 21 October 2026.
Whiteboard Revision turns photos of your revision notes into typed notes and flashcards. This page says what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: your boards live on your device, we keep your account details only so you can sign in, and there are no ads and no tracking.
Your boards and photos
- When you capture or import a board, the photo is sent to our server and on to Anthropic's Claude model, which reads it. The typed notes, the notes check and the flashcards come back to the app.
- We don't keep the photo or the notes on our server after they've been read. Anthropic doesn't use what we send it to train its models.
- Your boards, notes, flashcards and streak are stored on your device (in your browser's storage on the web). If you delete the app or clear the browser's data, they go with it.
Your account
To sign in we keep:
- your name and email address;
- which sign-in you use (Apple, Google, Microsoft or email), with the ID that provider gives us;
- a scrambled hash of your password, if you use email (never the password itself);
- your set-up: GCSE or A-level, your subjects and your exam boards, so a new device skips set-up;
- for a school Microsoft account, your school's Microsoft organisation ID, so a school licence can cover you.
We use these only to sign you in and run the app. We don't sell them, share them for advertising, or use them to profile you.
Emails
If you sign up with email we send a confirmation link and, if you ask, a password reset link. We send these through Resend. We don't send marketing email.
Who processes data for us
- Cloudflare runs our server and stores account details.
- Anthropic reads board photos to produce notes and flashcards.
- Resend delivers sign-in emails.
- Apple, Google and Microsoft confirm who you are when you sign in with them.
Schools
If your school licenses Whiteboard Revision, we note that your school's licence covers your account and count how many students from the school have signed in. Nobody at the school or at Whiteboard Revision can see your boards, notes or flashcards; those stay on your device.
Deleting your account
In the app, tap your name at the top of Home and choose Delete account. Your account details are removed from our server straight away. Or email us and we'll do it for you.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). Whiteboard Revision is meant for students aged 13 and over.
